The Jackson, Tenn.-based facility was one of three buildings the health system acquired from Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tennova Healthcare in 2018.
“There are so many orthopedics patients in this area that having them all brought here made sense,” Deann Thelen, BSN, RN, vice president at West Tennessee Healthcare and CEO of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, told the publication. “That’s everything from working rehabbing from sports injuries to hip replacements.”
The hospital was renovated to provide space for short-stay orthopedic surgeries. An eighth operating room and a 24-bed preoperative and recovery area were also added. Rooms previously used in labor and delivery are now used for recovery after surgery.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
