Native Orthopaedics has earned FDA clearance for its Native root system powered by Dragonfly technology for meniscus root repair.
Dragonfly gives sports medicine surgeons retensioning capabilities for knee repair procedures, according to an April 2 news release sent to Becker’s.
The system consists of two single-use sterile-packed Dragonfly devices, which utilize a manufacturing technique that offers greater mechanical strength compared to basic finger traps.
Meniscal root repair is one of the fastest-growing procedures performed in orthopedics, according to the release. Around 78% of total knee replacements have a medial meniscus root tear at the time of surgery, and with current technology, nearly 40% of meniscal root repairs fail.
The Native Root System will be available for commercial use in May 2025.
