Columbia, Mo.-based MU Health Care and Missouri Orthopedic Institute have launched a partnership with Mizzou Athletics to expand medical care access for student-athletes.

The collaboration creates a full-time chief medical officer position embedded within Mizzou Athletics. Tiffany Bohon, MD, a sports and family medicine physician, was named to the role. Dr. Bohon has worked with Mizzou Athletics since 2015 and was promoted to associate head team physician in 2020, according to a Feb. 3 news release.

In addition, orthopedic surgeon Clayton Nuelle, MD, was named head team physician for orthopedics. Dr. Nuelle has provided care for multiple Mizzou teams and completed his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Missouri.

Under the new agreement, MU Health Care will offer daily drop-in and scheduled care through a student-athlete health clinic, while the Missouri Orthopedic Institute will provide orthopedic and rehabilitation services onsite. The system will also assign dedicated team physicians across all Mizzou Athletics programs.
