1. Dr. Bazzi began decorating casts eight years ago to boost patients’ happiness and reduce stress after surgery.
2. “Having [patients] look down on their leg, despite the pain and see something they like, maybe brag to their siblings about, maybe show it to their friends, that really kind of eases things and has really been the crux of what we do,” Dr. Bazzi told WDVI News.
3. His designs have included holiday-inspired creations such as candy corn feet and elf legs as well as logos from superheroes like Wonder Woman, Batman and Iron Man.
4. The orthopedic surgeon said he usually focuses on creating the custom art for his postoperative patients since he puts on too many casts in clinic.
5. Dr. Bazzi has expertise in pediatric orthopedic surgery, with special interests in back pain, cerebral palsy, fractures and joint disorders among others.
