Here are four things to know.
1. Along with his possession of narcotics and felony weapons charges, Dr. Shephard was charged with using a computer to commit a crime and engaging in prostitution services.
2. Otsego Memorial Hospital terminated Dr. Shephard’s employment after learning of the charges against him. He was an orthopedic surgeon there for the past few years.
3. Records indicate Dr. Shephard was in possession of Percocet and a handgun. A former patient told 9&10 News he was shocked by Dr. Shephard’s arrest. The surgeon previously appeared on 9&10 News to discuss his hip replacement approach.
4. Dr. Shephard pled not guilty and waived his arraignment. He is due back in court June 14.
