Memphis orthopedic surgeon J. Barton Williams dead at 36

J. Barton Williams, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Memphis, Tenn.-based OrthoSouth, has died at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis at age 36, according to the Daily Memphian.

An official cause of his Feb. 8 death has not been determined, the newspaper said.

Dr. Williams focused on hand and upper extremity surgery. He also treated patients with elbow and wrist injuries, fractures and dislocations. He completed his medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Williams also completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity and microsurgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami (Fla.).
