Nantucket (Mass.) Cottage Hospital has launched an orthopedic walk-in clinic, expanding access to same-day care for musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, according to a May 5 Nantucket Current report.

The clinic operates within the Nantucket Cottage Medical Group at the hospital and builds on orthopedic service expansions connected to Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham, including recent surgeon recruitment efforts. Nantucket Cottage Hospital is part of Mass General Brigham.

The walk-in clinic provides care for nonemergency injuries such as sprains and joint pain for patients 5 and older. Services include physical exams, X-rays, casting and bracing, with a goal of reducing unnecessary emergency department visits. Appointments are not required.

Patients must be registered with Mass General Brigham to receive care, the report said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
