Louisiana AAOS affiliate installs Dr. Shane Barton as president: 3 quick notes

Shane Barton, MD, is the new president of Baton Rouge-based Louisiana Orthopaedic Association, a state trade organization affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The Acadiana Advocate reports.

Three quick notes:

1. Dr. Barton was Shreveport, La.-based Willis Knighton Health System’s medical director of sports medicine for more than 11 years.

2. Dr. Barton is chairman of Shreveport-based LSU-Health Science Center’s orthopedic surgery department and is the Thomas Norris MD Endowed Professor at LSU Health Shreveport.

3. Additionally, he serves as chief of LSU-Health Science Center’s shoulder, elbow and sports medicine division.
