Knoxville (Tenn.) Orthopaedic Clinic established partnerships with Knoxville-based South College and Harriman-based Roane State Community College to introduce careers in surgical technology.

Operating room managers with KOC and UT Medical Center in Knoxville went to classrooms to demonstrate orthopedic tools, according to a March 19 news release shared with Becker’s.

“The experience was incredibly meaningful for our students,” Jessica Davidson, a surgical technology instructor at Roane State Community College, said in the release. ““Being able to learn directly from KOC’s CST team and gain firsthand exposure to orthopedic surgery made a significant impact on their confidence and understanding of the specialty.”

KOC has more than 50 physicians in 13 orthopedic subspecialties.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
