Kaiser Permanente Hawaii appoints Dr. Andrew Tan interim director of trauma surgery — 5 things to know

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii named Andrew Tan, MD, interim director of trauma surgery, according to The Maui News.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Tan earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.

 

2. Following medical school, Dr. Tan underwent his orthopedic residency at U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego.

 

3. Dr. Tan has served in the Navy, where he served as a flight surgeon, senior medical officer and diving medical officer. At the U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan, Dr. Tan was an emergency room physician and resident orthopedist.

 

4. Kaiser Permanente Hawaii will take over Maui (Hawaii) Memorial Medical Center’s operations on July 1.  

 

5. The state’s Department of Health recently recertified Maui Memorial as a level III trauma center, with the center being the island’s sole trauma center.
