Medacta logs 1st US revision surgeries with MyKnee pre-op planning system

Orthopedic

Orthopedic product design company Medacta has announced the completion of the first U.S. knee revision surgeries using its MyKnee R technology for preoperative planning.

MyKnee R allows physicians to plan for operations using 3D blocks that guide implants to address the high variation in knee procedures with accuracy.

"Revision total knee arthroplasty can present many intraoperative surgical challenges, primarily due to substantial bone loss at the distal femur and/or proximal tibia," Kris Alden, MD, PhD, practitioner at the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, said in a Sept. 21 press release. "The unique ability to preoperatively plan and, most importantly, visualize the positioning, orientation and sizing of revision constructs with MyKnee R has been extremely helpful in anticipating, evaluating and treating some of these intraoperative hurdles."
