Children's orthopedic center to open in Florida

Miami-based Jackson Health System has announced a partnership with the University of Miami and Shriners Children's Florida to open the Shriners Children's Orthopedic Center in Miami, according to a July 22 report from the Miami Herald.

The center, which will be located near Jackson Health's Holtz Children's Hospital, is set to open in 2025 and will house all the partners' orthopedic pediatric care in the area.

The center will provide services including physical and occupational therapy, rehabilitation and developmental needs, filling gaps in orthopedic care that Jackson Health System could not address before.

"We'll be able to provide comprehensive care to all children, but we'll be able to do it in a highly integrated one-stop coordinated fashion," Daniel Armstrong, PhD, director of the University of Miami Mailman Center for Child Development, told the Miami Herald.

Jackson Health received a grant a year and a half ago from Shriners Children's Florida for the orthopedic center.
