From operating milestones to new devices, here are four orthopedic moves that have taken place in California in the last 30 days:

1. MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley, Calif., announced it has been 99.9 percent opiate-free for six years.

2. California spine surgeon Kee Kim, MD, completed his 100th spine procedure using Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS robot at the UC Davis Spine Center in Sacramento.

3. California orthopedic surgeon Donald Bittner, MD, began training Ukrainian surgeons in trauma care amid the country's conflict with Russia.

4. Beverly Hills, Calif.-based DOCS Health became one of few practices in the world to offer spine surgery with two robots: Medtronic's Mazor X and Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS.
