DePuy Synthes acquires analysis platform for hip replacements

Orthopedic

DePuy Synthes, Johnson & Johnson's orthopedic business, acquired Cuptimize Hip-Spine analysis, the devicemaker said March 21.

Cuptimize uses X-ray imaging to spot abnormal motion between a patient's spine and pelvis, according to a news release. The hip-spine analysis software is designed to prevent abnormal pelvic tilt in total hip replacement patients.

The software will be part of the Velys hip navigation system and is designed to help surgeons assess dislocation risk in hip replacement patients.
