Arthroscopy association collaborates on inclusive training module

Orthopedic

The Arthroscopy Association of North America collaborated with VirtaMed to create knee arthroscopy training modules with two different skin tones.

Jacqueline Brady, MD, Cassandra Lee, MD, and Patrick Joyner, MD, from the AANA knee task force, helped develop the new simulators, according to a March 17 news release.

"It is important to learn medical skills in a realistic environment, and that means training on simulators that reflect the diversity of both patients and trainee physicians," Raimundo Sierra, PhD, founder and CEO of VirtaMed, said in the release. "This is just one step in the right direction toward more equitable healthcare education and delivery."
