Resurgens Orthopaedics, ValueHealth & more: 9 key orthopedic partnerships

From the latest private equity transaction to a musculoskeletal care platform launching in Florida, here are nine orthopedic partnerships from the past two months:

1. Atlanta-based Resurgens Orthopaedics has affiliated with New York City-based private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe to build an orthopedic platform. Resurgens CEO Alex Bateman will lead the new physician-owned company.

2. Leawood, Kan.-based ValueHealth and NCH Healthcare System are developing a network of ASCs in Southwest Florida with local physicians, including a multispecialty ASC in Bonita Springs, Fla., and a hyperspecialty orthopedic ASC on the NCH Baker Hospital downtown campus in Naples, Fla.

3. A group of orthopedic surgeons and a plastic surgeon partnered to develop a three-story medical office building with a surgery center in Rogers, Ark. The 45,692-square-foot facility, expected to open in 2022, is being developed for Fayetteville, Ark.-based Advanced Orthopedic Specialists, a four-surgeon group, and Northwest Arkansas Center for Plastic Surgery & Skin Care Center.

4. Des Plaines-based Illinois Bone & Joint Institute affiliated with PatientIQ, a data analytics platform that helps measure quality and benchmark patient outcomes.

5. U.S. Orthopaedic Partners has acquired Birmingham, Ala.-based Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, which comprises 21 physicians and six facilities in Central Alabama.

6. Spire Orthopedic Partners, a practice management organization, partnered with Connecticut Neck & Back Specialists, a three-surgeon practice that is an affiliate of the Spine Center at Danbury Hospital.

7. Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based American Orthopedic Partners added two practices in New Jersey: Shrewsbury-based Atlantic Pediatric Orthopedics and Edison-based Center for Functional Restoration of the Spine.

8. Vail (Colo.) Health opened Dillon Health Center, a multidisciplinary facility that comprises five of the health system's partners, including the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Howard Head Sports Medicine and Vail-Summit Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery.

9. Orthopaedic Associates of St. Augustine (Fla.) affiliated with Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeast Orthopedic Specialists to create a multispecialty musculoskeletal care platform with more than 100 providers. Under the partnership, Orthopaedic Associates of St. Augustine will join Phoenix-based Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company's integrated care network.
