Here are five orthopedic surgeons making headlines over the past week:

1. Farzin Kabaei, MD, opened his new practice, Los Angeles-based Robotic Hip and Knee Replacement LA.

2. Orthopedic surgeon Mark Gittins, DO, partnered with medical technology company Avail Medsystems to teach joint reconstruction surgeries virtually.

3. Arthur Valadie, MD, was recognized by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society for his 20 years of service.

4. Daryl Osbahr, MD, was named co-chief medical officer of the newly formed USA Baseball Medical Oversight Commission. Dr. Osbahr is managing director and chief of orthopedic surgery at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Florida.

5. Christopher Ahmad, MD, will perform a procedure to remove a bone chip from the left elbow of New York Yankees pitcher Zack Britton, the team announced March 9.
