The U.S. affiliate of Skanska, a multinational construction and development company based in Sweden, has inked a contract to develop Orlando Health's $187 million Jewett Orthopedic Institute in Orlando, HC&O News reported Jan. 26.

The 371,000-square-foot medical pavilion and outpatient surgery center will have 75 inpatient rooms and 10 operating rooms, as well as a medical office building with 12 more operating rooms.

The surgery center is expected to be finished near the end of 2022. The hospital, which will add 500 jobs, is projected to open in 2023.

Skanska has partnered with Orlando Health on other healthcare projects as Florida's medical needs continue to increase in line with its rising population, according to the report.
