From a surgeon's company suing a big orthopedic device company to a new sports medicine chief at a California practice, here are the latest orthopedists making the news:

Parvizi Surgical Innovation, owned by Javad Parvizi, MD, invested in a software company focused on medical grade virtual reality and augmented reality technology for surgical training.

Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute appointed David Gazzaniga, MD, chief of sports medicine.

Riley Williams III, MD, performed surgery on the right knee of Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie.

Arthrodesis, owned by Rama Chandran, MD, is suing Wright Medical for patent infringement.
