An orthopedic surgeon in Libya has been freed from his captors four days after his abduction, CGTN Africa reports.

Dr. Siddiq Khalfallah Ben Della, deputy head of al-Khadra Hospital in Tripoli, the country's capital, was reportedly kidnapped Dec. 1 by four armed men in uniform.

Government security forces freed the surgeon and arrested his kidnappers four days later.

The United Nations Mission in Libya called for a "full and independent inquiry" into the incident and all other abductions led by Libyan armed groups, the news outlet reported.
