Orthopedic surgeon Ronald Hillock, MD, was one of 11 technology professionals honored at Vegas Inc's 10th annual "top tech awards," the Las Vegas Sun reports.

Dr. Hillock was a key player in the development of the Longitude system, used to treat amputated limbs.

The device uses 3D imaging to map inner dimensions of bones and create customized implants to fit the unique anatomic needs of patients.

He also developed the surgical technique and rehabilitation protocol to prepare the native bone and placement of the implant.

Dr. Hillock specializes in joint replacement and orthopedic oncology at Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center, which has locations in Henderson and Las Vegas.
