Oregon hospital 2nd in state to earn joint replacement certification

Orthopedic

Samaritan Albany (Ore.) General Hospital has been certified as a DNV GL Healthcare hip and knee replacement center, the Corvallis Gazette-Times reported Nov. 2.

The hospital is the second in Oregon to achieve the designation from the healthcare accreditation body.

The joint replacement program recognizes hospitals that demonstrate excellence in patient care and outcomes based on an objective set of standards that align with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' guidelines.

DNV GL Healthcare offers certifications for four orthopedic service lines: spine surgery, hip and knee replacement, shoulder surgery, and foot and ankle surgery.

Seven hospitals have received the company's Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation, which is achieved by securing certification in three orthopedic service lines.
