Ohio system expects to spend millions on new orthopedic center — 3 things to know

Zanesville, Ohio-based Genesis HealthCare System broke ground Sept. 22 on an orthopedic center expected to cost several million dollars, according to Y-City News.

What you should know:

1. The two-story, 21,000-square-foot building is intended to expand patient access to same-day care and to consolidate Genesis HealthCare's orthopedic providers and services in a single location.

2. Genesis conducted a 24-month national search to assemble a highly qualified team for the new orthopedic center. Two hand specialists, two sports medicine specialists, two foot and ankle specialists, a nonsurgical musculoskeletal specialist, several orthopedic trauma surgeons and a joint surgeon will practice out of the facility.

3. The building's exact cost has yet to be determined, according to Genesis President and CEO Matthew Perry. It is expected to open in fall 2021.
