Dr. Anthony Romeo joins DuPage Medical Group as EVP to lead musculoskeletal institute development: 5 details

Downers Grove, Ill.-based DuPage Medical Group appointed Anthony Romeo, MD, executive vice president to lead the development of a new orthopedic institute.

"Dr. Romeo's successful track record as one of the nation's leading orthopedic surgeons coupled with his commitment to innovation and value-based care makes him the clear choice to lead the new DMG Musculoskeletal Institute," said Steve Nelson, CEO of DuPage Medical Group, in a press release.

Five things to know:

1. In his new role with DuPage Medical Group, Dr. Romeo will head up efforts to launch DMG Musculoskeletal Institute and recruit additional orthopedic, spine and physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists to the practice.

2. The institute will also include occupational therapy, physical therapy, primary care sports medicine and chiropractors for a comprehensive approach to musculoskeletal care.

3. Specialists at DMG Musculoskeletal Institute will use a value-based care model that leverages robust medical informatics, evidence-based clinical protocols and technology to optimize clinical quality and reduce costs.

4. Dr. Romeo has more than 30 years of experience in orthopedics and previously practiced in Chicago at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. He previously worked as a team physician for the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls. Dr. Romeo also served as chief of orthopedics for Rothman Orthopaedics in New York.

5. Dr. Romeo's clinical practice focuses on shoulder, elbow and sports medicine care. He is a past president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
