Third-party administrator Continental Benefits is partnering with Regenexx, a network of interventional orthopedic clinics, according to a March 10 announcement.
Continental Benefits aims to reduce surgical spend for self-funded employer groups through the partnership, which will give clients access to Regenexx interventions for elective orthopedic injuries.
Regenexx uses orthobiologic injections to treat about 40 orthopedic conditions. The interventions are intended to reduce individual procedure costs by up to 70 percent and decrease the number of unnecessary orthopedic surgeries performed.
"Overuse and misuse of orthopedic surgery is prevalent in our healthcare system today," Regenexx CEO Jason Hellickson said in a press release. "Our patented regenerative approach to treating common orthopedic conditions is transforming the care pathway of an orthopedic patient who can now avoid a surgical encounter with less risk and less downtime."
