The DNV-GL awarded Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System certification for total hip and knee replacement as well as the first total ankle replacement certification in the U.S., reports The Chattanoogan.
Three things to know:
1. The certifications validate facilities and services that meet or exceed standards of care in total hip, knee and ankle replacement.
2. The health system worked with DNV-GL to create the certification for total ankle replacement, based on guidelines from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
3. Erlanger's providers treat more than 600,000 patients per year, according to the health system.
