Physical therapist-turned-orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bryan Smith joins Arkansas hospital

Mercy Hospital Fort Smith (Ark.) recently welcomed orthopedic surgeon Bryan Smith, MD, to its practice, reports Arkansas Business.

He graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Smith earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a doctorate in physical therapy from Washington University in St. Louis.

After four years working as a physical therapist, he returned to medical school to pursue an orthopedic surgery residency.

Dr. Smith completed that residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., as well as a sports medicine fellowship at the University of California Los Angeles.
