Here are six orthopedic surgeons making the news.

The Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty published research from Avi Kumar, MD, of Bradenton, Fla.-based Coastal Orthopedics on reverse shoulder arthroplasty using a lateralized glenoid sphere. The study examined 245 patients who underwent reverse shoulder arthroplasty for cuff tear arthroplasty. 

Orthopedic Surgical Practice in Santa Barbara, Calif., added orthopedic surgeon Bryan Emmerson, MD, to its team. Dr. Emmerson has been practicing at Sansum Clinic, a nonprofit outpatient clinic in Santa Barbara, since August 2011.

Orthopedic surgeon Neal ElAttrache, MD, of Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles will perform an arthroscopic debridement procedure on the left shoulder of Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart.

Fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine Tyler Collins, MD, joined The Orthopedic Clinic Association in Phoenix. Dr. Tyler discussed why he joined TOCA, how 3D printing will develop in orthopedics and future trends in orthopedics.

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine inducted orthopedic surgeon Christopher Harner, MD, into its hall of fame. Dr. Harner is professor and vice chair of academic affairs and the sports medicine fellowship program director in the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Kieran Cody, MD, will serve as the new president of the medical staff at Doylestown Hospital in Doylestown Township, Pa., for the next two years. Dr. Cody is a sports medicine specialist and surgeon with Doylestown Township, Pa.-based Bucks County Orthopedic Specialists.
