HSS nurse Jack Davis named National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses president — 3 insights

New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery's Jack Davis, RN, became president of the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses May 21.

1. Mr. Davis is the manager of patient education and research at HSS.

2. Mr. Davis has spent his entire 39-year career at HSS. He started as a licensed practical nurse in 1980, holding several other roles until he assumed his current role in 2008.

HSS Assistant Vice President of Nursing Excellence Patricia Quinlan, PhD, RN, said: "I have always admired Jack for his willingness to serve. A vital member of our nursing administrative team, Jack connects with nurses on every level."

3. Mr. Davis' presidential theme for his term is, "Engage Your Core," which he hopes will inspire members to become more engaged with the organization.

He elaborated on his presidential theme: "Engage your core passion and drive to become a more professional orthopedic nurse; engage your core leadership values by stepping up to serve by joining a NAON committee or seeking a leadership position; engage your core team at work; [and] engage your core nursing knowledge to enhance quality care."
