What you should know:
1. Dr. Brandon performed the procedure at the Staten Island, N.Y.-based hospital.
2. InterSep, a calcium sulfate bone void filler, helps minimize infection risk through its slow- dissolving calcium sulfate beads.
3. A patient's natural bone replaces the void filler during the healing process.
"Richmond University Medical Center is helping our Staten Island patient community by greatly reducing complications such as infection," said Dr. Brandon.
