Det Norske Veritas of Norway and Germanischer Lloyd of Germany certified Princeton (W.Va.) Community Hospital as a Center of Excellence for hip and knee replacement, the Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports.

1. The hospital began the certification process in 2016.
2. The hospital started the process by partnering with Stryker and forming a multidisciplinary team at the hospital.
3. More than 100 people helped shape the hospital's joint replacement program.
4. The DNV-GL team said it rarely awards the certification to community hospitals but said Community Hospital's program was a "phenomenal program."
5. Eighty-eight percent of the hospital's patients go home the day after surgery.
