Dr. Virgil Meyer to retire after 36 years — 5 insights

Little Falls (Minn.) Orthopedics' Founder Virgil Meyer, MD, will retire July 1 after 36 years in medicine, the Morrison County Record reports.

What you should know:

1. Dr. Meyer founded Little Falls Orthopedics in 1982.

2. He recruited Little Falls' first ever mid-level provider when physician assistant John Carpenter joined his staff in 1984.

3. Little Falls Orthopedics now has five orthopedic surgeons, two podiatrists, five physician assistants and 35 providers on staff.

4. Dr. Meyer has performed more than 10,000 orthopedic procedures and will continue to perform surgeries as he readies to retire.

5. In the coming months, Dr. Meyer will transfer the practice to his partners.
