Stanford Medicine orthopedic surgeon appointed to endowed professorship: 3 details

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford University School of Medicine orthopedic surgery professor Kevin Shea, MD, was appointed the Chambers-Okamura Endowed Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedics.

Three details:

1. Dr. Shea serves as Stanford University's vice chief of pediatric orthopedic surgery for research. He is also the director of pediatric sports medicine at the university.

2. His research interests include sports medicine, anterior cruciate ligament injury and osteochondritis dissecans of the knee, elbow and ankle.

3. After earning his medical degree from UC Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine, Dr. Shea completed his residency at Salt Lake City-based University of Utah School of Medicine. He then underwent pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship training at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.
