Dr. James Nicholson: The key to orthopedic practice growth

Orthopedic

James Nicholson, MD, is a joint replacement surgeon at Stony Brook (N.Y.) Medicine. He focuses his practice on hip and knee replacement as well as arthritis care.

Here, Dr. Nicholson discusses the best opportunity for practice growth in the future.

Question: What is your best opportunity for growth?

Dr. James Nicholson: Growth of a practice is mostly based upon taking proper care of the patient. Treating each individual as a family member is the time-tested way to improve growth. It is not offering something new or better; it is offering what is proven to help patients in a caring manner. For some surgeons this is much more difficult than learning a new technique that may or may not be better.
