ABOS names Dr. Rick Wright president-elect: 5 details

The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery appointed Rick W. Wright, MD, as president-elect.

Here are five details:

1. Dr. Wright will serve a one-year term as president-elect before becoming president in October 2019.

2. The distinguished professor of orthopaedic surgery at St. Louis-based Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Wright also serves as the hospital's executive vice chairman of orthopedic surgery and director of its orthopedic clinical research center.

3. Dr. Wright specializes in sports medicine, anterior cruciate ligament injury and revision, meniscus injury, articular knee cartilage, shoulder instability and rotator cuff disease.

4. He is the head team physician for the St. Louis Blues.

5. After earning his medical degree from University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Dr. Wright completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., and a sports medicine fellowship at Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center.
