American College of Surgeons extends new academy membership to Dr. Thomas Miner: 4 notes

Providence, R.I.-based University Surgical Associates oncologist Thomas Miner, MD, was inducted into the American College of Surgeons’ newly established Academy of Master Surgeon Educators.

Here are four things to know:

1. ACS established the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators within the Division of Education to both recognize and unite renowned surgeons while creating a space for physicians to exchange ideas and collaborations on advancements of surgical care.

2. Dr. Miner is an associate professor of surgery at Providence-based Brown University. He is also affiliated with Providence-based Rhode Island Hospital and Women and Infants Hospital in Providence.

3. A fellow of ACS, Dr. Miner is also a member of New England Surgical Society, American Association of Clinical Oncology and Associate for Surgical Education.

4. After earning his medical degree from Providence-based Brown University-Dartmouth College medical program, Dr. Miner completed his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and a surgical oncology fellowship at New York City-based Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
