Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Robert LaPrade of the Steadman Clinic & Steadman Philippon Research Institute

Robert LaPrade, MD, is an orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon at The Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colo.

With expertise in treating complex knee injuries and failed surgeries, Dr. LaPrade serves as CMO and co-director of the Steadman Philippon Research Institute's sports medicine fellowship program.

Dr. LaPrade's specialties include posterior cruciate ligament tears, revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions and meniscal transplants.

As a clinician scientist, Dr. LaPrade has published more than 400 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and 125 book chapters. He is the most published author in the American Journal of Sports Medicine, having contributed more than 130 articles.

In 2013, Dr. LaPrade received the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation's Clinical Research Award for his posterolateral knee injuries research. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Arthroscopy Association of North America, among others.

After earning his medical degree at University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. LaPrade completed his residency at Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Hughston Sports Medicine Clinic in Columbus, Ga.
