Dr. Gary Doss retires after 35-year career: 4 insights

Board-certified orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon Gary Doss, DO, retired from Orthopedic Associates in Port Huron, Mich., after a 35-year career, according to the Port Huron Times Herald.

Here are four things to know:

1. Dr. Doss received his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Kirksville (Mo.) College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at St. Louis-based Normandy Osteopathic Hospitals.

2. Dr. Doss worked extensively with local high school sports team. He served as a sports medicine coordinator and past president of the St. Clair County Medical Society.

3. He is a member of the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame and received numerous awards over the course of his career, including the Friend of Kids Award from Port Huron Schools, the Michigan State Medical Society Community Service Award and the Humanitarian Award from the St. Louis Metropolitan Hospital Association.

4. Dr. Doss will retire to his farm in Fort Gratiot, Mich., where he raises Texas longhorn cattle.
