Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Nady Hamid of OrthoCarolina Sports Medicine Center

Nady Hamid, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at OrthoCarolina Sports Medicine Center in Charlotte, N.C.

Dr. Hamid is also affiliated with Charlotte-based Carolinas Health System Mercy Hospital, where he is the site director for the orthopedic surgery residency.

With expertise in treating disorders of the shoulder and elbow, Dr. Hamid serves as lead physician at OrthoCarolina's shoulder and elbow institute.

He has published various articles and book chapters on rotator cuff disease, shoulder arthritis and post-traumatic elbow disorders. Dr. Hamid currently serves on the editorial review board for the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

Dr. Hamid is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North Carolina Orthopaedic Association and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, among others.

After earning his medical degree from Birmingham-based University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Hamid completed a residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. He underwent fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at St. Louis-based Washington University and shoulder surgery at L'archet University Hospital in Nice, France.
