Meriden, Conn.-based MidState Medical Center is celebrating its 20-year anniversary, according to myrcordjournal.com. Here are five things to know about the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at MidState Medical Center:
1. The orthopedic institute is regarded as a hospital within the hospital. Its physicians treat patients with joint, hip, back or disc conditions.
2. Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute is a 14,500-square-foot center that was repurposed in 2017 for $12 million.
3. The institute comprises 21 patient rooms, 11 operating rooms, a rehabilitation center and dozens of surgeons.
4. Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute was created when Wallingford-based Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists joined Comprehensive Orthopaedics, the former orthopedic center at MidState.
5. Surgeons operate in suites on the unit.
