Scott J. Ellis, MD, was named president of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation.

Here are three insights:

1. Dr. Ellis is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery. He is also an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.

2. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society.

3. Dr. Ellis previously served a two-year term as member-at-large on the AOFAS board of directors. He chaired the AOFAS Young Physicians Committee from 2012 to 2015.
