Dr. Michael Gary Ehrlich passes away

Orthopedic surgeon Michael Gary Ehrlich, MD, 78, died July 18, the Providence Journal details.

Dr. Ehrlich served as chief of orthopedics at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for 30 years before stepping down in 2015. He was a professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence and served as president of the Academic Orthopaedic Society in 1999.

Dr. Ehrlich specialized in pediatric orthopedics. He received his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City and was the director of orthopedics at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before moving to Providence in the 1980s. Dr. Ehrlich pioneered arthritis research at MGH and RIH labs.
