Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Alejandro Badia of OrthoNOW

Alejandro Badia, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and the co-founder of Doral, Fla.-based OrthoNOW, a national franchise walk-in orthopedic care center.

A hand and upper extremity specialist with more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Badia also founded Doral, Fla.-based Badia Hand to Shoulder Center and Miami Anatomical Research Center, a cadaver training lab.

Dr. Badia served as president of the International Society for Sports Traumatology of the Hand from 2011 to 2013. He delivered lectures around the world and published numerous clinical and research articles.

In March 2017, Dr. Badia traveled to St. Joseph Orthopaedic Hospital in Koforidua, Ghana, to perform orthopedic upper limb surgeries. Through Operation Healing Hands, he performed pediatric hand reconstruction in Guatemala.

Dr. Badia earned his medical degree and underwent orthopedic training at New York University in New York City. After completing a hand fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, he completed a fellowship in Freiburg, Germany.
