Regional OrthoNOW franchise plans to open 32 urgent care centers — 6 insights

Orthopedic

Regional developers of the Miami-based OrthoNOW franchise intend to open 32 orthopedic urgent care centers in Michigan within five years, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

Here are six insights.

1. Kelly Olin and Mark Olin are co-owners and regional developers of the OrthoNOW Michigan franchise.

2. They plan to partner with orthopedic physicians and are negotiating with a group from hospitals in Southeast Michigan. The physicians would fund the project and enter into a license and service agreement with OrthoNOW, while the Olins would hire the manager and handle billing and collections.

3. The Michigan centers will provide treatment for musculoskeletal orthopedic and sports injuries and chronic conditions, as well as radiology, physical therapy and wellness care.

4. The Olins' first Michigan center will be in northern Oakland County. A more specific location will be announced in the coming weeks.

5. If all 32 centers come to fruition, they could employ more than 1,200 workers altogether.

6. OrthoNOW has 54 centers in Florida and Georgia. In addition to Michigan, it plans to expand into Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin.
