Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Michael Parks of Hospital for Special Surgery

Michael Parks, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.

Dr. Parks is also an associate professor at New York City-based Weill Cornell Medical College and the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons' past president. He serves on the Movement is Life Caucus steering committee and was recently named the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation's president.

Recognized as a top doctor by Black Enterprise and Money magazine, Dr. Parks conducts research focused on joint replacement surgery, biomechanical implant retrievals and the impact of race, ethnicity and gender on the care of arthritis patients.

Dr. Parks attended medical school at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and completed an internship and orthopedic residency at Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Medical Center. He underwent fellowship training at Hospital for Special Surgery.
