Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Adolph Lombardi Jr. of Joint Implant Surgeons

Adolph Lombardi Jr., MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at New Albany, Ohio-based Joint Implant Surgeons.

Dr. Lombardi joined Joint Implant Surgeons in 1987 and serves as the organization's president. He is also a clinical assistant professor in The Ohio State University's orthopedics department in Columbus.

A past president of both The Knee Society and The Hip Society, Dr. Lombardi serves as Operation Walk USA's executive committee president. He co-founded White Fence Surgical Suites in New Albany, Ohio, where surgeons have performed more than 2,500 outpatient joint replacements since the center opened in 2013.

In his 28 years of experience, Dr. Lombardi has performed 23,179 surgeries and earned 13 medical awards, including the 2015 American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons Humanitarian Award and the 2009 Pioneer of Medicine recognition.

Dr. Lombardi earned his medical degree from Philadelphia-based Temple University. He completed postgraduate training at Temple University Hospital and Albert Einstein Medical Center, both in Philadelphia. After pursuing one fellowship at Joint Implant Surgeons, he completed another at the National Hospital for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and the Anderson Orthopaedic Institute, both in Arlington, Va.
