Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Dan Cooper of The Carrell Clinic

Dan Cooper, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Dallas-based The Carrell Clinic.

Dr. Cooper is the Dallas Cowboys head team physician and has been with the organization since 1992. In 2013, the league recognized him as an outstanding NFL team physician with the Jerry "Hawk" Rhea Award.

In addition, Dr. Cooper is a consultant to Real Madrid Club Futbol in Liga BBVA of the Spanish Premier Division.

D Magazine  included Dr. Cooper on its annual "Best Doctors in Dallas" list numerous times. Dr. Cooper has published more than 70 scientific articles and book chapters and served as a faculty member for more than 50 course lectures.

A graduate of the Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Cooper completed a residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He underwent fellowship training at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
