Dr. Chad Lavender joins Marshall Orthopaedics' sports medicine team: 3 insights

Huntington, W.Va.-based Marshall University named Chad Lavender, MD, as an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Dr. Lavender also joined Marshall Orthopaedics – Teays Valley in Scott Depot, W.Va.

Here are three things to know.

1. Dr. Lavender is a board-certified orthopedic sports medicine surgeon. He received his medical degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown and underwent orthopedic sports medicine fellowship training at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia in Richmond.

2. Dr. Lavender is a former WVU football player. He serves as a team physician for Marshall University, the University of Charleston in W.Va., and several local high schools. He joins Brock Niceler, MD, at Marshall Orthopaedics' Teays Valley location.

3. He also joined Cabell Huntington (W.Va.) Hospital.
