Dr. Francis Cormier: orthopedic surgeon & award-winning bodybuilder

Francis Cormier, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Essentia Health St. Mary's-Detroit Lakes (Minn.) Clinic. As of March 31, Dr. Cormier is also an award-winning bodybuilder, according to the Parks Rapids Enterprise.

Here are three things to know.

1. Dr. Cormier won a third-place trophy in the Men's Physique, Masters 35+ category, as well as two fifth-place awards for Men's Physique Class B and Novice Men's Physique Class B at the NPC Upper Midwest Bodybuilding, Physique, Figure and Bikini Championships in Fargo, N.D.

2. Dr. Cormier is 59 years old and had never competed in a bodybuilding competition before.

3. In addition to bodybuilding and practicing orthopedic surgery, Dr. Cormier and his wife operate JF Stables, a boarding and training facility for horses which currently boards about 20 horses.
