Here are seven orthopedic surgeons making headlines.

Chief of Adult Reconstructive Surgery at Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center Craig Della Valle, MD, was named the 28th president of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

 

The Iowa Board of Medicine charged Margaret Fehrle, MD, with 18 counts of providing improper patient care. 

 

Rick Wilkerson, DO, received the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons 2018 Humanitarian Award at the AAOS Annual Meeting in New Orleans for nearly three decades of work serving underserved populations worldwide.

 

Orthopedic surgeon Michael Oberlander, MD, presented on the promise of telerehabilitation for patients with orthopedic injuries at Healthcare Information Management Systems Society 2018 in Las Vegas.

 

Orthopedic surgeon Frank Essis, MD, passed away March 7 while on a ski trip in Lake Placid, N.Y.
